SU Graduation Saturday May 5th

saylorThe Honorable Justice Thomas G. Saylor of the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court will present the commencement address May 5 during the Spring undergraduate commencement ceremony at Shippensburg University.  

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in Seth Grove Stadium. Approximately 1,000 students are expected to participate.

Saylor did his undergraduate work at the University of Virginia and received his law degree from Columbia University in 1972. He then returned to his native Somerset County where he worked in a general practice setting and served as First Assistant District Attorney.

He was appointed director of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Consumer Protection in 1982, and First Deputy Attorney General of the Commonwealth in 1984. Following this government service, Justice Saylor was a litigation partner for several years in the Harrisburg office of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott.

He was elected to the Pennsylvania Superior Court in 1993, and in 1997 to his current position on the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He was retained in 2007 to serve a second ten-year term.
